About WaSAP

About WaSAP

Water sanitation and hygiene services.

WaSAP is a social business registered in Sierra Leone to provide water sanitation and hygiene services in rural and peri-urban communities. It is a company limited by guarantee. WaSAP was founded by Deutsche Welthungerhilfe e.V and EMAS International e.V.

The business commenced full operations in 2021. We use simple, easy-to-use, and environmentally friendly technologies to manually drill boreholes, construct latrines, train community-based technicians and promote water filters to provide safe water and sanitation services in rural communities in Sierra Leone.

Our Vision

A Sierra Leone free of water-borne diseases.

Our Mission

A social business that contributes to improving the health, livelihood, and wellbeing of people living below the poverty line in Rural communities in Sierra Leone through Safe Water and good sanitation services.

Our values

Integrity: We uphold high standards throughout our process

Quality: We provide standard technology for our customers

Empathy: We are in this together

Fairness: No segregation among our customers and employees.

Since we started our main revenue stream has been project sales, and that has created an over reliance on these institutions that are given us the projects and it risks our sustainability because of the nature of projects. To strengthen our business model starting in 2023, we want to have a strong focus on retail sales such that we start to grow that segment and diversify our revenue streams. To achieve this, the company will be involved in activities that will grow its corporate customers while continuing to work in rural and peri-urban communities. This necessitates the addition of water filters and solar water pump systems into the current product portfolio.

In addition, we have noticed that there have been challenges on after sales services for every product that we put into the market and to ensure that it remains functional for the defined life. In 2023 we want to ensure clients have a good experience and recommend these products elsewhere. The company also intends to rebrand its products to make them appealing to prospective customers. Through its products and services, the company contributes to improving the well-being of people. The company currently works in three districts in Sierra Leone. Its head office is in Crossing Six Mile Western Area Rural. It also has offices on Bonthe Island and Mattru Jong.

The guiding principle is sustainability, improvement in contract management, efficiency, and value for money.
