Promoting Nutrition-Sensitive WASH Self-Supply on Bonthe Island
Funded by BMZ and Implemented by Welthungerhilfe Sierra Leone and SEND Sierra Leone.
WaSAP was contracted to construct and install 1000 EMAS hand-drilled wells and 334 elevated surface and drum pit latrines based on the community WASH Self-Supply proposals in the 50 selected project communities, within the two operational chiefdoms (Sittia and Dema) of the Project on the Sherbro Island of Bonthe District Sierra Leone.
WaSAP will select two local technicians from the intervention area (for example, local bricklayers with some experience) that would be trained on how to install and do maintenance on the installed EMAS facilities. The WaSAP Company will also provide theoretical and practical training on EMAS design, quality standards, and installation techniques.
Improved Nutrition and Food Security in Rural Areas of the Kenema District
Funded by BMZ and Implemented by Welthungerhilfe Sierra Leone and SEND Sierra Leone.
WaSAP is contracted to Construct eight (8) Sanitation Centres at eight (8) Communities (MendeKelema, Venema, Baoma, Faama, Gagbwema, Gorahun, Saahun, and Kambama) within the operational area of SLE 1056-17 Project in Kenema District and Pujehun District. Each Sanitation centre has the following facilities constructed:
- Elevated EMAS Toilet with CI Sheet superstructure;
- EMAS Toilet with Tala Mat superstructure;
- Squatting toilet with mud block superstructure;
- EMAS showers with C I Sheet Superstructure and standard;
- Handwashing facility;
- Local Tippy tap;
- EMAS drilled well or installed an EMAS hand pump on existing well to provide water to the EMAS Showers and Hand Washing facility.


Improved Access to Sustainably managed Micro-Finance und WASH System

WaSAP was contracted for the construction and installation of 1022 EMAS hand-drilled wells and 1000 elevated surface and drum pit latrines based on the community WASH Self-Supply proposals in the project clustered communities, within the two operational chiefdoms of the Project on the Kenema District Sierra Leone. During the COVID-19 Pandemic, 15 EMAS wells were drilled by WaSAP to support the Kenema Distrct.
In addition to the Welthugrehilfe Projects, WaSAP has also partned with Concren Worlwide and provided WASH services for Actiona Ahgaints Hunger in Sierra Leone.
